You can probably get a adapter cable and plug it into a USB slot and as long as the drive is not dead then you should be able to copy and paste data from old drive folder to new drive location. Just dont restart computer, since computer may think it is your boot drive.

Don’t mess with registry for little stuff like power saving and sleep options.
Have you changed added any external devices, ie: mouse, bluetooth, keyboard, etc. ?
1·1 year agoAs the othe rposts suggests, you really need a SSD and 16 gigs ram, u might consider buying one 16gig stick and retiring the single 8gig.
As for a cheap SSD, I would not. Go with a name brand from a reputable store ( online or building) Make sure the SSD you buy has migration/transfer software included/available.
What video card and what kind of cable ? Display Port, DVI, HDMI?
Never used it but looks promising.
Also appears 100% customizable, so i would investigate what got disable that shouldnt have, or reset to defaults
So if you browse the c drive with file explorer, your user name is not in C:\Users ?
If you lost the whole profile name then I would question the legitimacy of the app you downloaded. If u do see your user folder then I would question what user id your signing into the computer with? the iCloud app may have added another signin account.
If using a add on graphics card, move your computer monitor cable to the motherboard built in video connector.

What is the make/model of your laptop and do u know if it has a SSD or traditional spinning hard drive?
To verify you can open task manager and observer the processes and utilization
What I cant understand is why you did not contact Dell support for warranty? Which is now likely void since you did install the factory image.
