I’ve had my desktop for over 5 years now and in the last month or two, it’s refused to go to sleep when idle. I’ve checked the sleep settings and it’s set to sleep in 25 minutes of inactivity. I’ve tried to find answers online but nothing has helped yet.

I came across a couple places that talk about the registry and to go to - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power and then to change the value of AwayModeEnabled to 0. I found that that there is no AwayModeEnabled option in those options. It seems to be missing.

Is this something that would correct the issue? If so, how would I go about adding that back in?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!

Don’t mess with registry for little stuff like power saving and sleep options.

Have you changed added any external devices, ie: mouse, bluetooth, keyboard, etc. ?
