How do you all feel about how Cubase’s built-in tuning (not the insert plugin) capabilities compared with Melodyne and other tuning solutions?

Having used both before, I personally just use Variaudio nowadays, for workflow purposes. However I use it for just monophonic tracks, nothing too complex.

This is where Cubase 13 could have given us something new - polyphonic VariAudio would be mad. There’s also opportunities to incorporate AI in the future to improve results when you’re working with more extreme pitch changes. Other than that it does the job.

Melodyne is better. So is the Pitch Correction in Digital Performer. The algorithms are better.

I think anyone who uses pitch correction really should capitalize on the massive discounts and take an upgrade off of Melodyne Essentials up to the Editor SKU, and maybe even to Studio if they can afford it and Polyphonic Correction is something that would be useful to them.

VariAudio is nice, it’s fast and intuitive to work with. Melodyne’s more expensive versions can probably get a lot more technical with editing sounds (including polyphonic pitch correction, which is just insane), but for your average tuning job of monophonic sources VariAudio delivers solid results.

It’s great, I personally don’t find any need to use melodyne, variaudio does the job well. Like others said, it’s monophonic but for vocals it’s enough 99% of the time
