Long and frustrating story short - my internet cable was cut.
Album of the damage.

After looking at the damage - it seems like I should be able to fix this issue without going through the hassle of my ISP customer service (as well as avoiding the service charges).

My brain immediately thinks I should be able to just purchase a lengthy, all-weather COAX cable, and replace the bottom wire (of the third picture).

Thoughts?

You should be able to just replace the cable and make sure to put in any dampener or anything like that that was on the original cable.

Do you have any idea how or why it got cut?

The cable was cut accidentally (don’t ask how or why).

I ultimately just went with a $40 coax cable at my local hardware store. ~6 hours later and the net is back up!

Ohhh. Make your isp run the cable. Actually every time they run a new account you should get new coax.

Yeah you should just be able to replace the cable.

Your ISP might have put some sort of dampener (I don’t know the technical term for it) at the end of the cable there to decrease the signal strength as that end does look a little thicker than usual but, realistically, you should be fine just replacing it with a regular cable and not worrying about it.

Worst (realistic) case your router/whatever it is on the other side of it might run a little hotter.

    2nd Album.

First album - first pic - is connected from outside to this port inside the house, where I would run a coax (?) cable inside the house to my modem.
