I shouldn’t go buy stuff on Black Friday sales. But I did. I bought Steinberg Absolute 6, the instrument collection including Halion 7, Groove Agent 5, etc.

After three days, it had:

  • Broken my cubase 11 media bay
  • Broken my cubase 12 media bay
  • Broken my halion 6 install
  • Made 90% of my existing cubase projects fail to open
  • Showed me 0 loadable presets in halion 7, after three tries reinstalling it.
  • Screwed up my ability to start cubase without errors.

So I just rage quit Cubase and all steinberg products. Deleted them all. I have 400 gigabytes more space on my hard drive, and a huge hate for Steinberg.

Whatever they did to me, if I can convince anybody else NOT TO UPGRADE TO HALION 7, just don’t.

    I just bought absolute 6 yesterday and installed it. Didn’t launch Cubase (11 pro on windows) until today. No problems here as far as I can tell, but I had Halion SE (the free version). Only oddity I noticed was Groove Agent took a while to initially populate its browser.

    honestly i have not had a single issue with Halion sonic 7 nor have i seen anyone else who has. So don’t ragequit and maybe investigate what causes the issue. Might be an underlying problem.

    You are the first person I seen with any issues. So I wouldn’t rage quit and give up. Lot of reasons it could be a problem. Worse case scenario do a full reinstall of OS, then Cubase, then halion 7… worse case. I do that from time to time just to have a fresh clean install.

    There’s no point in trying to help or offer solutions here as the OP has already stated that he’s deleted everything and “quit Steinberg”.

        I’ll be honest, I have a policy of being kind and trying to help anyone, except when they start off already rude and obnoxious like this guy did.

        Such a shame, as the answer to his issues is quite obvious.

    I have Cubase 13 and 11 and Absolute 6. No issues, all projects work. Halion 7 does replace 6 bit doesn’t eliminate but rather adds sounds. Halion is a powerhouse.

    After upgrading to Halion 7 and removed the dongle all free libraries didn’t work anymore (like Lofi piano). This is because the dongle is still needed for these libraries. I logged in at the Steinberg website, went to the voucher section and there were vouchers for these free libraries. By redeeming these the free libraries started working again.

    The only library I need a dongle for now is Neo soul keys which I bought almost 10 years ago. I had to delete this library. Lucky for me Amped elektra is kind of similar to Neo soul keys.

    I had no issues with it at all after upgrading from 5 to 6 because of the grace period.

    I upgraded from Halion 6 to 7, and went through the licensing system update, but H7 did not work. Steinberg support took about a day to fix something on their end, and then it was working. H7 is s nice upgrade. Even if you did all the steps to update the licensing system and transfer from the dongle, you may still need to contact support if there is a glitch over on their end. They did it in about a day for me. Hope it works out for you
