for context i always used wi fi cause of the way my house is built i can’t use an ethernet cable, and i never had problems with it but just like 5 minutes ago i booted up the pc and the option to connect to wi fi is literally gone, even if i go to settings and then go into the network subsection there is literally no option for the wifi, like if my pc never supported it

If it’s a Dell desktop, power off. Unplug. Hold up the plug end and touch the metal ends of the plug with a finger to be touching 2 or 3 poles.

Plug back in, start, and maybe that Wi–Fi card will be showing again. (a known XPS-8930 thing)

For some reason the wireless adapter isn’t detected by Windows. Either the device has failed, has been disabled or the driver is missing. If it’s a missing driver, the wireless adapter may be listed in the Device Manager as an unknown device.

Your WiFi driver may be out of date or your motherboard bios may need to be updated

make sure wifi is turned on in Windows.

start > type “wi-fi” > open “Wi-fi Settings” make sure it says “On” at the top toggle button.

Maybe you accidentally pressed fn+wifi button (fn+f12 maybe, check on your keyboard any wifi button). Could be airplane mode as well.
If not, it’s probably drivers issue (system files could die cuz your drive was moving and damaged), check your laptop model, go to official HP site, find WLAN drivers for your model and install.
If this won’t help either, probably shitOS update incident, reinstall to LTSC.

I’ve seen this issue in some newer laptops. Most notably the Lenovo T14.

We found that shutting down the laptop and disconnecting the battery would help.

Download the driver on a different machine and put on a USB. Install it. Check device manager. See if device is even showing as unknown device
