I noticed this happening this morning but I didn’t realise how I did it, but I’ve just been able to replicate it consistently: When I swipe right anywhere on my instagram page, WhatsApp automatically opens and pre-populates a message from myself, to a random hair and makeup business, saying “Hello! I would like to book on to one of your courses”. I’m a 27 y/o male with no interest in hair/makeup so I can’t imagine how this is happening. I’ve tried blocking the account on WhatsApp, but it pops up even if I kill the WhatsApp app in the background. Im not swiping on any instagram links either, I’ve scrolled down and it does it even on random instagram posts from friends. I’m very confused so any help would be massively appreciated.

Maybe meta now do these type of ads? I dont think thats what happened. Ran any kind of anti virus/malware? Try reinstalling instagram and test it again

I don’t have WhatsApp, knowing it is “compromised” already but I’ve noticed a lot of iPhone 15 (series) having these small “bugs” here and there. So that just might be it. Try uninstalling WhatsApp for a bit (if you can afford to), then try swiping again on IG. See what it does. If it leads you to a browser, then it is an Apple/Meta connivance. I’ve noticed recently of Instagram’s enhanced “mind reading” capabilities, almost invading subconsciously. Instead if peddling you with stuff you will like, it will flood you with “seemingly” irrelevant ads/reels/posts you will most likely won’t like, hence triggering an emotional “response”, i.e annoyance. What they’ll do with that data, is yet to be revealed, since they already had database of what you “like”, they need to be certain of what you don’t.

I have everyone around me using iPhones. I use an android mod version of Instagram and this NEVER happens. They even get jealous that I could directly “download” from Instagram. LOL. What’s happening with Apple?

This is so annoying, happens to me every time, opens chat with a metal processing factory with a pre-written message. If this is a new feature it’s really fuqqed up.

I had this issue too, sent me to a travel agency or something. It stopped when I refreshed Instagram though.
