Just scan it with malwarebytes and adwcleaner (maybe even some other virus removal tool), if there’s anything it will report to you.
And get rid of norton (not even paying for it). Windows defender is good enough already.
Download crystaldisk info to see if your hdd is failing, if it’s not, probably that’s not the cause.
Get a ssd either way.
I would probably blame it on junk being accumulated on the computer over time (especially if it’s an old PC, so formatting can help, until next time, and next and next), so, either get a more powerful PC, or stop using windows/programs that you are using right now.
Linux is really light, and if you only use the PC for excel/chrome (basic work and school stuff) I would switch to linux. (ChromeOS or tiny version of windows may also be an option)
