This started happening maybe 2-3 weeks ago. My mouse and keyboard are constantly disconnecting from my PC (both are wired and both started having the issues at the same time). Each time it happens, the Windows sound queue for a disconnected device happens, and any button that I am currently pressing does not register anymore (e.g. I am holding W to move forward in a video game, the disconnect happens, and I have to actually take my finger off of the button and press it down again in order to continue moving forward again). My mouse disconnects for longer than the keyboard, with the mouse being inactive for up to 5-10 seconds while the keyboard only disconnects for a second or two. The lights on my keyboard also do not shut off while my mouse will go dark while it happens.

I have tried moving the plugs to different USB outlets on my motherboard, but that did not change anything - and my headset, both my monitors and my controller which are also connected to the motherboard, do not experience any disconnect at all.

I originally thought it was a motherboard problem, but the fact that just my mouse and keyboard are disconnecting and NOTHING else has deterred me from that. (I am also quite inexperienced with diagnosing tech issues so this isn’t a guarantee).

My mouse is a logitech g502 hero and my keyboard is a hyperX alloy core. All drivers/firmware are updated as of 10 minutes ago when i checked before I made this post.

Any ideas or hints in the right direction are appreciated! And if you need any more information just let me know.

Edit: just for the sake of more information, this happens upward of 2-3 times per minute sometimes, and others it will go 5-10 minutes between it happening; so overall pretty random, but when it is bad it can be INSANELY frustrating to play games/do anything on my computer

Thanks!

Have you tried connecting your mouse and keyboard to the USB hub on your monitor?

It might not make any differences but it’s worth a try.
