For Christmas, I ordered my son a Horizon 2 Pro from Starforge. It’s got an Intel Core i5-12400F and a rtx 4060 Ti. I’m wondering whether I should get him a 1080p or 1440p monitor? I myself use a 4080 on 1440p but I’m really not sure if a 4060 Ti can handle it. What do you guys think? This might be a dumb question but thought I’d chance it and ask Reddit, as I am very new to PC gaming. Thank you!

I dont see anyone saying this but it depends on the size of the monitor too, if he likes 24 inch then 1080p should suffice, 27 inch would preferably be 1440p and 4k for anything larger than that. I find that 1080p 144hz-240hz would be best for budget. But if you have money to spare, do get the 1440p 144hz as it seems to be the sweet spot for price and performance.

I wouldn’t recommend 4K for gaming, still at this point, cause there’s still existing games and some new ones that don’t fully support it. But I support the mark that 27" and over, go with 1440p.
