I might have messed around too much with a 3.5 inch HDD by plugin it in and out many times since my Bios Sata Smart system told me the HDD might be damaged. And now my pc just completely black screens. On startup it wont even load to the MSI screen where i can load the bios.

There is a small orange LED (not blinking but constantly on) on my Motherboard that is lit with the text vram next to it. I’m not sure if its my ram that i might have to replace or my Motherboard.

Anyone has any idea what i could have destroyed by my foolishness by plugin a failing HDD in and out several times?

Besides that the HDD is going to be send to a data recovery centre since it had some valueable stuff hence why i was being so desperate for it to read the disk 1 more time.

If vram led it on, that is either ram itself, ram controller (on cpu), or motherboard (faulty ram slot) - and all that is probably not connected to your fiddling with drive.

If you have 2 or more ram sticks, try with only one and in different slots.

First of all, thanks alot for replying so quickly!

Iv’e discovered that it works fine as long as i do not use the most right (4th) slot…i so happen to have a spare brand new exactly the same Ram stick and even if i use this one in the most right slot it doesn’t load further then the MSI logo. Does this mean this slot will be broken forever? How does this even work from messing around with a HDD :(

I really couldn’t be 100% sure about the cause, most likely it is motherboard, but in some rare cases it could be slightly moved cpu (Intel or newer AMD - with lga sockets). Good thing is that it is working, abate 4th slot.
