For the past 10 years or so I’ve had a PC hooked up to a dumb TV to stream my TV. Now I’m officially old and have kids in elementary school. The PC is finally unbearably slow but now I have no idea what to replace it with, or frankly even what my options are. Smart TV? Casting Stick? new PC? some newfangled option i don’t even know what to google?

I just got a 55” Toshiba FireTV that took about 2 minutes to setup after plugging it in and signing into our Amazon account.

It cost only $280 and is 4K with all sorts of fancy tech. I don’t understand how someone would spend $2k on a TV these days. I just don’t see a $2000 different between the top end ones and the one I just bought.

My first HDTV was a 50” rear projector LCD (so it was like a foot deep at the base, but was super light) bought in 2005 and cost $2,200 from Best Buy.
