Trying to record video from my laptop over to VHS using an HDMI to AV converter but the video plays back in Black/White once recorded. The picture shows in color while it’s shown on the AV 1 picture but not on the tape itself. I’m in the US and assuming my TV and player are NTSC. I’m using a Toshiba CRT 14af45 and a Samsung DVD-VR375

I had a look at the manual for the recorder and it seems like NTSC isn’t actually supported, or at least not properly.

NTSC isn’t listed as an option under “colour system”(under setup > vcr function setting). Only PAL, MESECAM and B/W(black and white). The manual also mentions some limitations about NTSC DVD recording.

I’m checking out the settings menu and I can’t seem to find the vcr function setting

Argh! That’s on me, they used the same model number for pal and ntsc versions. I found another manual that indeed doesn’t have that option.
