I was on a car repair forum, Grand Prix Forum, and there was one of those ads for cheap Chinese merchandise (USA rings, etc.). There were about two rows of them that were severely blocking the page, so I clicked on the little blue “x” in the corner to get rid of it.
Well, it lead to a porn site, and I immediately closed it. Obviously it was mislabeled. Why did this happen, and how do I prevent this from happening again? Also, is my computer vulnerable to anything now?
I found this sub by Googling it, but other posts were from people who regularly watch porn, and already have “stuff” on their computer; this does not apply to me.
Thanks for any help.
EDIT: I’m not sure if the “Grand Prix Forum” link above is suspicious, so here is the full URL for greater visibility: https://www.grandprixforums.com/how-to-write-ups-tech-tips/79486-diy-how-to-install-transgo-shift-kit-4t65e-very-detailed-pictures-9.html
I would download an adblocker &/or use an Adblock extension like Ghostery, AdGuard, Adblock Plus etc.
