hi guys, i’m creating a cool live setup for my metal band. Since we use the backing tracks with Cubase 11 and a Focusrite 2i4 (which can also handle midi signals) I was able to send midi signals to the guitar pedals via midi to change the sound automatically. My question is: can I also control the lights via midi? I tried using a midi5pin to xlr adapter: https://www.amazon.it/dp/B09KCN6JCX?ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_SMXMH1NGS7VQYE5H0V9M&language=it-IT

the problem is that I can’t get the midi signal to the light to control it. maybe the problem is that xlr is not the same as dmx. Can you advise me on a solution that doesn’t involve upsetting the gear?
Thank you guys!

i honestly think you need to do a lot more reading before you buy anything. DMX is very different to midi as a specification. Do you know how to attribute the lighting fixtures and what lighting control software will you be interfacing with ?

There is a max external for the dmx usb pro so you could build something in there.

I find the easiest way is to program all my looks on the lighting desk and then have the entec fire either cue stacks or values to vary sub masters.
