I am interested in getting a 4k monitor but I’m wondering if it will hurt my computer’s performance. I have a 2019 MacBook Air and it runs great with a 1080p monitor as a second screen. If I were to upgrade to a 4k display would that increase the computing demand and possibly slow down the machine? I’m not too knowledgeable on computer science so I’m hoping someone here will be able to help. Thanks!

If you’re just wanting to have another screen and run it at 4k, for movies or whatever. fine.

But you won’t be able to run games at 4k for example, but doesn’t mean to say you can’t play games on the 4k monitor, you’ll just have to turn down the resolution to 1080p

But if you don’t play games or do any crazy stuff, then no, it shoudn’t hurt the general performance
