Hey, I just found out my grandma almost got scammed by accidentally typing ‘cannon’ instead of ‘canon’ while trying to install her new printer drivers.

The scammer started using a live chat in the browser to talk to her. The scammer then used desktop sharing to take control of her computer and tried to get her to give her banking info, which she did not.

The scammer was able to mess around on her computer for a short period of time before she clued in and shut it down. Im currently scanning with her antivirus (Vipre), clearing browsing data, and told her to change her passwords. Is there anything else I should do to be sure her device is clean? Appreciate any input!

Hey, sorry that this happened to your Grandma but go into “Add Or Remove Softwares” in Settings and search for any Aplications or Softwares that you don’t recognize and uninstall them. Another trick is to go into File Explorerand go to the “Quick Access” area and you should find Files, Folders, Softwares, and anything that has been opened recently. Hope this helps!
