How do I keep my number without having to pay monthly? I’m currently changing plan and am getting a new number along with that but would like to keep my older number too incase I missed changing my number on a website or service.

They told me that after cancelling my plan after 6 months my account and number will be deactivated and closed. How can I prevent this? Port my number to some other service? I couldn’t find any networks that offer non renewing plans but if I’ve missed something like not needing a plan or network at all or you have any suggestions at all then please let me know.

Thank you

You can do one of those prepay companies like Mint, Tracfone, Virgin Mobile etc. if you’re in the USA you can get a month-to-month plan and port your number to it. If you are in some other country, I have no idea what your options are. If you get a month-to-month plan just pay for the line till you are satisfied that you no longer need it.

You could port the old number to a straight talk or prepaid phone, then forward that number to your new number. You’ll be in the same situation thou if you don’t keep it active you’ll loose the number but this is probably your cheapest option I can think of. At least you aren’t stuck in a contract this way.
