i don’t actually know what the source of the issue is, so i’m not too sure about a flair aside from windows

i am absolutely baffled as to why. the keys U I O P keep repeating occasionally … not as though they’re being held down, just. Duplicating or tripling or even sometimes quadrupling ! sometimes they go a single time, but sometimes they don’t work at all.

i have a video, but really all it did was show exactly what i explained above.

info about my computer - lenovo laptop; ive had it for about 4-5 years now. i didn’t download anything nor did i change anything about my computer when it started. i did however update from windows 10 to 11 in hopes that it would fix the problem [it did not]

now i’ll list every method i tried [in order]/

  1. ran the windows 10 [then] keyboard troubleshooter; no issues found

  2. restarted my laptop

  3. ran hardware & devices troubleshooter . one issue was found that drivers wouldnt install? but it fixed it and its still happening so i dont think it was related anyways

  4. ran windows security tool [no threats found]

  5. ran TotalAV to find threats just in case . still found none. cleared unneeded stuff and nothing changed

  6. tried to update the driver but it was up to date

  7. removed japanese as an option for languages [i downloaded it a while back]. didn’t think it would change anything, but just in case

  8. changed the repeat delay [i made it slower, nothing changed]

  9. edited the windows registry. set autorepeatdelay to 500, autorepeatrate to 50, and bouncetime to 35. applied and restarted and nothing changed.

  10. updated to windows 11 in hopes of it fixing Something

  11. lifted up i key and cleaned it out pretty decently. even the button part still duplicated it though so it is Still not working

i have no clue why this is happening tbh . tips would be appreciated!! i dont really know much about computers in general despite using them like every other day . so coming here is my last resort because i’m not fully educated on this lmao so if i say something horrendously incorrect, that’s probably why !

Some keyboards don’t last long. Given the choice between a new keyboard or a new laptop, which one would you choose?
