Hey guys,

So basically I accidentally clicked on some dodgy website link, and immediately upon entering there was a pop up window that appeared for like 1 second before disappearing. I got paranoid, so I tried entering the same website on my PC (I have ESET) and it told me it terminated connection to: JS/Redirector.QKM Trojan.

Now I’m really scared if my phone could have gotten infected since it didn’t have any antivirus protection? I didn’t click on anything on the website itself and obviously didn’t download anything, but still, I heard of cases where websites can automatically download malware into your device and Android phones are not exactly immune.

What should I do? Factory reset? Could my files/passwords have gotten compromised? Am I just being paranoid for no reason? Thanks in advance…

    TLDR: You’re probably safe

    Long answer:

Theoretically its possible that you actually got infected but extremely unlikely simply by visiting a website, something like this requires extreme sophistication and things like this are generally done by governments.

In your case if you simply clicked a dodgy link, what the people who host those website do is that they host thousands of scam websites in hopes for victims to fall in to them, if one of them goes down then there is more that are still running.
