Hello I Recently purchased a m.2 to upgrade my storage. This would be WD_BLACK SN850X 4TB a little bit pricey but I taught I’d enjoy the faster read and write times. The Main problem I have been experiencing is this m.2 not being recognised in BIOS (meaning windows will not notice) I will say to this there have been times it will boot and I will see the M.2 in bios but they are few and far between to narrow down why. the one time it has been recognised I have formatted this.

Here are my specs:

CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 3600

MOBO : B450 Tomahawk max

GPU : Gigabyte 2070 super

Ram : 16gb corsair dominator platinum

Storage : Samsung 870 Evo( Boot drive ) & 2tb Seagate HDD ( disconnected)

PSU : Corsair RM750 750W Power Supply 80 Plus Gold

(built 3 years ago)

I will say the reason I have purchased a m.2 was because my old HDD was having some problems with noise and the Sata cable.

Now I like to think that I could at least do a few searches before I make a post. So here is what I have tried up until now

1 Re seating M.2

2 Cmos clear

3 Starting the PC Without the 870 ( worked once to recognise m.2 but since has not)

4 Changing from CSM to UEFI

I have tried a lot to trouble shoot this within bios as well so I might have tried something you could recommend.

now with how old my PC is and the chipset/CPU being a bit behind after everything I have tried the only thing I could think to do would be to try a new MOBO/CPU. But even if I do get this I would like to think that I have tried everything first.

Please let me know what you think :) I am grateful for the help

Ok first disconnect the m2 boot from the SSD, see everything is working fine now turn off connect the m2 turn on check if show on bios if it does boot from the SSD again it should not show at first restart and it should now if it doesn’t try cleaning the m.2 port.
