I have an Aorus 7 gaming laptop with a gtx 1650 and Intel i7 9750h. Recently purchased second hand Whenever I go to play a game or use the GPU while its plugged into the charger, the laptop will freeze and I’ll have to power it off.

The odd thing is, I can game and use the GPU perfectly fine when it is not plugged into the charger.

I had also recently upgraded the ram from 1 x 8gb 2666mhz to 2 x 16gb 3200mhz. Have tested the ram and both sticks are fine although maybe the different frequency has an impact?

After downloading MSI afterburner I noticed the frequency of the GPU memory increases by about 500mhz when I plug in the charger.

Have tried updating the GPU driver and also installing older versions but no luck.

Running windows 11

I’ve ordered a new charger so hopefully that resolves the issue.

I tried reducing the frequency of the gpu memory by 500mhz to account for the increase when the charger is plugged in but it still freezes

    SOLVED:

Changed the power settings and set up a new power profile and made sure all of the settings when plugged in were the same as when on battery. Also reduced the max limit of the CPU to 90% for both.

So far so good. Have managed to play some demanding games with the charger plugged in and it hasn’t frozen since.
