Yesterday my laptop showed me I needed an update, I did so and it lasted about 1 hour. After it finished, I went to do some homework on Google and it didn’t show any wifi conection. I tried to search for my network but none appear, so I checked Device Manager and the “Killer Wireless-n/a/ac 1535 Wireless Network Adapter” says “This device cannot start. (Code 10)”. I tried to search for updates but it I “already have the best drivers installed”. I don’t know what to do.
It’s an Alienware 15 R2
What can I do to fix it? :(
Did you try restarting again? Also, 1 hour is a extremely long time to update-that could be a sign of a bigger problem, and that could be linked to why the Wi-Fi doesn’t work
Thanks to everyone :) I found a solution in a yt comment. Just had to change the driver manualy (no need to download a new one), maybe the update changed it to a previous one, idk.
Go to device manager and uninstall then reinstall the driver. See what happens. If that doesn’t work, you can try manually adding your Wi-Fi network
It’s been a while but my last killer network equipped laptop had me jump through hoops to install the latest drivers.
- Drivers are from the maker, not Windows Update.
- I had to use the killer uninstaller noted widely. Example: https://www.reddit.com/r/MSILaptops/comments/l25wp5/how_to_completely_uninstall_killer_internet_and/
- Then I could install the latest from the maker.
Had the same problem a few months ago. I uninstalled the wifi card through device manager. Re started the computer and let it reinstall using the the driver that was already installed. That fixed my problem.
