DNS Bad Secure Config Error

Every time I try to connect to my ISP’s Wi-Fi service, I get a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_SECURE_CONFIG error on my browser, and instead of pulling up the splash page for my Wi-Fi’s login, the msftconnect.com/redirect webpage pulls up instead which is where the error shows. I can’t for the life of me figure out what is going wrong. I’ve tried connecting to other Wi-Fi networks (which also have login pages) but I get the same error.

Steps I have taken:

  1. Restarted my computer

  2. Reset my network settings

  3. Messed around with the Registry settings, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/NlaSvc/Internet, by setting the EnableActiveProbing value to 0. When I do this the redirect page doesn’t pop up and instead of seeing a globe with a cross symbol it shows the Wi-Fi symbol with full bars, and instead of saying “Not connected, Open” under the Wi-Fi network it’ll say “Connected, Open”. I can ping Google’s 8.8.8.8 DNS server, but whenever I try to visit a URL I still get the same error

  4. Manually set my DNS to go to 8.8.8.8, then 1.1.1.1, and then to receive automatically via DHCP. None have helped

  5. Various Command Prompt Troubleshooting - ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /registerdns, ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log, netsh winsock reset, etc

    So is the internet working for other devices such as your phone? When connected to the WiFi and you go to neverssl.com do you get the error? What does the network settings say about your connection? Can anything be pinged?
