Hey everyone,
I made a post in another subreddit trying to figure out why my two gig plan with Frontier is not getting the two gig speeds to my PC. Normal boot speeds are around 200Mbps Down/ 150Mbps Up, but will typically dip to sub 100Mbps for both.
Gist of the story: Upgraded from 300/300 to the 2gig plan. Frontier came out and confirmed the issue is on my end, not theirs, after multiple tests.
After much troubleshooting, it has been narrowed down to be something with my PC. As stated above, my normal boot speeds are around 200 down, 150 up. Safe boot mode jumps up to around 800Mbps down/ 400Mbps up. I have seen forum posts about looking at resource monitor when running the speed tests to see what processes are taking up bandwidth, and I dont see anything that really stands out to me. I will attach picture of resource monitor and speedtest result.
I also notice that the download latency on normal boot speedtests fluctuate highly, sometimes upwards of ~200ms. The picture that is attached shows that it was 150 at the end of the test.
Where should I begin to look at when it comes to this issue? I have seen windows support suggest doing a clean boot method on multiple forums, but the OP’s all said that it did not help/fix the issue.
Any and all help with this is greatly appreciated! Feel free to ask any questions that can/will help you try to figure this out, as I am at my wits end trying to figure it out by myself.
Model of computer?
Also what does it say in Device Manager for the Network adapters?
Do a search for Device Manager. Open Network adapters. Do you have the correct driver?
Microsoft had installed their version instead of the manufacturers.
You can right click on the Intel or Realtek or whatever the name of yours is then go to Properties then the Driver tab. Note the driver version.
Is there a newer one available?
Check the manufacters website for drivers
