Hi all. Hoping for some help. I bought Cubase Artist 13 very recently and have noticed that when recording guitar, I record in time with the click track (I’ve tested multiple times, it’s not my ability to stay in time😂), but on playback, it looks like the recording starts a little earlier than the line of each bar. Ive been able to “fix” it so far, by taking off the grid snap and moving the recording forwards a bit to make it back in time, but obviously this is hopefully a short term solution! I’ve done some googling, but so far not been able to find a way to resolve. All help appreciated! Thank you very much!

this is a 15 year old problem that looks like it will never be fixed. It is usually noticed when playing midi to the click (audio or midi). Zoom into the notes and you will see that the notes are 20 to 60 samples ahead of the actual played time (discounting player error and jitter). When you dig further you will see that Steinberg have decided not to tackle it any further. Their initial approach is to suggest using different timestamp methods for various drivers. However, these solutions do not work. Its basically 2 time clocks drifting at the low level and is probably beyond Steinberg. In their defence, if it effects Cubase it affects most other DAWS.

I’d do a loop back recording of your click track audio from an analog output back to the input you’re using for guitar, for a sanity check. It’s totally possible you just consistently play a bit ahead of the click.

Measure the difference in samples (using a sound with an obvious peak)

Put the result into the recording offset amount in the Studio setup dialog.
