Hi, this post might be annoying with all of you experts on here, sorry but I’m feeling so sad. I started a course of music production this spring. I like singing and sometimes write lyrics and sing melodies in my phone.I love music and singing. I want to be a songwriter and make songs for others. I started the course with 0 ecperience. I have very intense ADD and am recovering from a burnout. And i just cabt seem to focus and i get so frustrated with myself. I received cubase with the course and a book. Everything in the book is written so difficult for advanced people i just dont know where to start. Does anyone have tips for someone who is just starting out? I only have a macbook. I am going to borrow a midi controller from a friend next month. I dont play any instruments. How do I make a song in cubase. I guess i do have to purchase a microphone. And do i need to purchase a soundcard? Anyhow what are the best ways to get started other than watching turorials? How do I advance quickly? Any tips or thing i should do or know? Maybe hacks? Tips for cubase for dummies? Or maybe good websites books or videos?
All info will be greatly appreciated i feel very overwhelmed and just so sad i dont understand the book. Made be unmotivated and just want to quit and cry. I need to finish the course in 6 months or pay a fine and hand in a song i create before then. I need help. Sorry for bothering you pros.
Maybe. If your budget allows, you start off with something even more user friendly, like FL Studio…
It also sounds like you need to learn more about home recording and prodcution, and not just Cunase or any DAW. Find some good audio rexoding books and videos, and watch those. I’m them, you will also learn concepts that will actually make navigating Cubase easier.
…and refuse to let your ADD beat you. Don’t let your challenges become unclimable walls.“The Price is the Price,” and sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta for what you want. Start by finding yhe motivation to do what we it takes to get to where you want to be skill wise, and healthily-obsess over it.
I will do my best. I have a year to finish this course and hand in my end project a full song thats good on the technical aspects. I still know nada didnt understand the book, watched some tutorials found them hard, tried the book again panicked cried and left it to collect dust. Now i only have 6 months left. I need to do it just scared to fail. My last education was also from home due to covid and difficult so i kinda have ptsd i think. But thank you for advice im going to change my nindset and go for it! Lots more information on this thread then in the entire textbook i got.
Go for it, brother! Good luck!
