Hi, this post might be annoying with all of you experts on here, sorry but I’m feeling so sad. I started a course of music production this spring. I like singing and sometimes write lyrics and sing melodies in my phone.I love music and singing. I want to be a songwriter and make songs for others. I started the course with 0 ecperience. I have very intense ADD and am recovering from a burnout. And i just cabt seem to focus and i get so frustrated with myself. I received cubase with the course and a book. Everything in the book is written so difficult for advanced people i just dont know where to start. Does anyone have tips for someone who is just starting out? I only have a macbook. I am going to borrow a midi controller from a friend next month. I dont play any instruments. How do I make a song in cubase. I guess i do have to purchase a microphone. And do i need to purchase a soundcard? Anyhow what are the best ways to get started other than watching turorials? How do I advance quickly? Any tips or thing i should do or know? Maybe hacks? Tips for cubase for dummies? Or maybe good websites books or videos?
All info will be greatly appreciated i feel very overwhelmed and just so sad i dont understand the book. Made be unmotivated and just want to quit and cry. I need to finish the course in 6 months or pay a fine and hand in a song i create before then. I need help. Sorry for bothering you pros.
I’m not sure how possible it is to share a desktop session with audio over hangouts/zoom etc, but I’m sure some of us could give you a basic intro. What timezone are you in?
As for equipment, you will likely need a keyboard / MIDI controller, a soundcard with mic input, some headphones (so you can monitor yourself and the music whilst recording vocals, without the mic picking up audio from speakers), optionally some speakers and of course a mic.
Thank you so much i think thats all i need just some help to get started. How sweet of you toffer i thought no one would reply on my post 🥹 I live in the netherlands
I’m in Finland - so I think one hour ahead of you. Feel free to PM me any questions and if/when you feel ready to be walked through the basics, maybe we can arrange a time to share my screen and talk through things.
What version of Cubase are you using?
Im sending you a message! Thats so sweet!
