Just like the title suggests, looking to build a new computer in the coming days and I want to finally break free from Reaper and start using Cubase.

That being said, my current CPU is a Ryzen 7 3800XT which has been fine for all of my shitty rough mixes and demos. But I want to switch to Cubase, because I like the workflow of it and I feel like Reaper, while generally pretty simple, can be a little stark and bland and even unintuitive at times with it’s plugins.

I would like to stick with AMD as I do a fair bit of gaming but was wondering how well Cubase works w/ AMD CPUs in comparison to Intel. Any input is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

And just in case anyone is thinking about suggesting it; no, I’m not gonna go buy a Mac. And no, I’m not interested in building a separate computer for audio production and a different computer for gaming, it is simply out of the question.

I have a 5950x, the cpu usage meter barely moves no matter how many tracks and plugins I have going. We use the same CPU for the tracking computer and it tracks like 28 at a time, no problem and no latency. Usually I’m tracking “live” with the cabs in separate rooms with the band on phones in the drum room, seems to work best like this so they can get the right groove going and still allows for subs/punch-ins
