When trying to update to windows 11 I am encountering an issue where it gets stuck at 46% then has the error code 0xc00000f0 while its getting updates. I have tried redoing the process several times and it happens everytime. I have tried restarting the windows update service which someone else said worked for them but that did not work for me. Idk why that would’ve worked for them to begin with cause I’m pretty sure that’s the equivalent of just restarting the entire process.

I have no pending windows updates or anything like that so that isn’t the cause. The only driver I have that is not up to date is my GPU which I rolled back. I seriously doubt that is having an impact on this. While there are a lot of topics on this I’m having difficulty skimming through them and finding solutions because a lot of them frankly got non answers, things I’ve already done or no one gave a solid answer to begin with to the OP. I have not tried installing it with a USB/ISO but I’d really like to avoid that route if possible.

I would really like some sort of solution because now it has actually somehow managed to fuck up my existing windows because now when I try to launch a full screen game all I get is a bunch of flickering and tabbing in and out with me doing nothing and the game not responding which did not exist until I simply turned on the TMP setting in bios and started the windows process. I didn’t do /anything else/.

So now not only do I have no progress on that update I have a PC that can’t play fucking games because it just fucked everything up. Any solutions? I’m going to have to reformat at this point either way cause of that.

I cant have a fix for this. sadly some widows problem only go away after a reinstall. BUT if you reinstall windows 10 use LTSC edition. download it from waybackmachine. it an edition of windows that is supported till 2031 with security updates and much more stable

The problem with Windows is that there are way too many records for filesystems that I can’t explain despite my 10+ years of experience in the IT space.
As a personal rule of thumb, I never ever update OS. I do an fresh install from ground up.

The problem is, over the years, Windows self updates when there are update releases. I can tell you from experience that many of the updates coming from Windows are filled with bugs. 90% go unreported and uncorrected because they never get triggered. These bugs WILL get in your way during upgrades. I have never…never in my career performed an update without running into issues.

So I simply save myself the hassle and time, by simply doing a fresh install from ground zero.

For your particular issue, if you can still do a backup of your most important files, do so and opt for format and re-install. Don’t forget to take inventory of your drivers so you can put them back on after the re-install

Have you enabled the dynamic updates?

If yes, its similiar with this current problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/SCCM/comments/15tutvf/in_place_upgrade_hanging_recent/

Solution from there and what I also got from a microsoft ticket:Download the newest Win 11 ISO from MSDN/wherever.Download the newest 21H2 from MSDN/wherever.Take these files from the 21H2 ISO source folder and replace them in the newest Win 11 ISO source folder:setuphost.exeappraiser.dllappraiser.sdbacmigration.dllappcompat.xslappcompat_bidi.xslappcompat_detailed.xslappcompat_detailed_bidi.xslappcompat_detailed_bidi_txt.xslappcompat_detailed_txt.xslappcompatservicing.dllappraiserdatasha1.catappraiserres.dllappraiserwc.dll

You’re mostly ranting here and not providing information. Details will help anyone offer support.

What are you talking about with a TMP (TPM? Maybe?) setting in bios? What was it labeled? Did you follow a guide or anything?

What sort of computer do you have? Brand, model, etc. What version of windows are you on now? (press start, type ‘winver’.

Can you restart? Does the behavior continue?

I suspect the dism commands to fix your restore image, then current install would be a good idea: https://lazyadmin.nl/it/dism-command/
