My understanding is that the USB-C port would need to support a feature called “DP Alt Mode” for DisplayPort to work. They make PCIe cards which have this capability, though I don’t know of any models off the top of my head. I encountered the same issue when trying to get my Lenovo dock working with a Dell desktop for the same purpose.
