So at work we provide POS sistems. And one of our gas station client has noticed a very interesting error and can’t figure out how could this be happening:

We provide services for self checkouts at the gas stations, which stand outside. So the problem was notices this year after the weather got cold. The entire gas station loses Internet. When they turn off the self checkout outside, everything works fine, when they turn it on, the Internet still works for like 5mins and cuts off again. The gas station still has networking running, every computer can be accessed via LAN but the Internet connection doesn’t come through. The only fix that was notices was performing disk checks on the self checkouts. After that, no errors or Internet problems. The self checkouts are very old but this issue has not happened before and only happens to this client. So have HDD, some have SSD, the issue is the same. The self checkouts have heating inside them so wouldn’t say cold is the cause.

TL;DR The whole LAN network loses Internet connection but still can access each computer on the network. The only fix is performing disk check on a computer that’s outside.

Is it possible that a corrupt disk cuts off Internet for the entire LAN network?

EDIT: The issue is resolved by the disk check so I’m not trying to fix the problem on company’s behalf. Just curious how and if it’s possible.
