Hey everybody! Hope you’re doing all well

As mentioned in the title, I am willing to buy a second hand wifi router and I was wondering if there is any chance at all to be exposed to any kind of danger (I don’t know what kind of danger lol that’s a part of my doubts) To precise some stuff : I won’t connect it to internet, I’ll just use it in local communications between my computer and my phone. I’ll use a Mac, windows and an android cell phone

Cheers!

Low, but non zero risk. Factory reset it and update it - manually - from the official firmware repositories

I have several routers. Except for the isp proveded one, they’re all second hand.

The danger is every time everywhere. ;) But in a nutshell: Just do a factory reset and you’ll be safe. Sure it’s possible to install a Root Kit on it but what “normal” person would do such an effort for private people? You’re not Bill Gates or don’t you? ;)
