After I’ve been gaming for longish periods of time sometimes my pc will turn itself off and then refuse to turn back on again. I’ve found that taking out the cpu and putting it back in will fix the issue temporarily. Important to note that the computer is build by me and has a 5800x and a asus b550 mobo. Any help would be appreciated
Replace the CMOS battery would be a good start
I tried and it’s still happening possibly more frequently than when it started (not after changing)
You probably don’t have the tools and expertise to reflash the BIOS, so your next step would be to replace the motherboard or take it into a repair shop and see what they say
Have updated my bios in the past, and replaced the motherboard because it was throwing a dram error light. My new motherboard has now decided to give the same dram error light and the computer won’t turn on. Bear in mind the first motherboard was lying when it said the ram was broke
Sounds like a cmos issue, can you try replacing the cmos battery? Someone here had a similar issue a month-ish ago and it was caused by a bad cmos battery on a new motherboard
Do they come with a spare or should I buy one online
You can buy a cmos battery for like $2 at most stores, from certain watches, bike lights, small toys, or you might have a few lying around your house as cmos batteries are usually sold in pairs (make sure it’s the same type as the one I your motherboard and you install it facing the same way the original cmos battery is facing)
Replaced cmos battery and still facing the same thing
