Symptoms: every few minutes or so, the screen turns black for a very short time. Like maybe a few frames. This happens whether I’m on Windows desktop, running Valley Benchmark, or games. The flicker can happen as little as 2-3 minutes apart or as much as after 10 minutes.

I’ve tried both DP and HDMI cable, I’ve tried 60, 120, and 144 Hz setting, I’ve checked for Windows updates, and also tried rolling back an update. I’ve used DDU and replaced with current AMD driver version. No change at all.

Monitor: LG UltraGear 32GK650F-B
Video card: XFX 6600 XT
OS: Windows 11 Pro
Running on AMD 5800x3D and Asus Prime x570 Pro

Since nothing changed when I tried all the first paragraph, all that’s left is faulty OS that may need to be reinstalled or video card. Is there anything I should try before I start backup of data and begin reinstalling OS?

    1. How old is the monitor?
    2. Does the flicker happen with a different video source? (Game console, cable box, other PC/laptop)
    3. Does the time between flickers start out long and get more frequent the longer it’s on for?

My guess is the monitor backlight power supply capacitors might be going bad.
