So my WiFi only has 1 SSID but is capable of 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHZ. I have a WiFi adapter that is capable of 5 GHZ, so it’s frustrating when I auto connect to 2.4 GHZ.
It can’t be a range issue btw, since I am always on 5 bars. My router is a few meters away. I don’t know why, it just likes connecting to the 2.4 GHZ sometimes.
I checked my WiFi adapter and found out that it has 802.11 settings. I looked it up and tried out 802.11ac since it’s said to be capable of 5 GHZ connection, and it worked. But, is this the best setting?
802.11a, 802.11 a/n, 802.11 a/n/ac
802.11ac
802.11b, 802.11b/g, 802.11b/g/n
What’s the best setting here for 5 GHZ?
It might be preferring the stronger signal. Bear in mind 5GHz isn’t great for distance and walls.
