So I’m running windows 11 and I want to format my PC to ensure that when I sell it or give it away the data on it definitely can’t be recovered. From looking online apparently data can still be recovered even using window’s “Reset” feature.

I’ve learnt that using CMD’s “Format X:/P:3” is an effective method of securely wiping data. I’ll be using it to wipe my Hard Drives. I also have an internal SSD that stores all my applications and OS. I’m curious what would happen if I tried to use the Format tool to wipe that drive with the OS. I was planning on doing a factory reset then using the Format. What happens?

Do I need to load an OS over to my Hard Drive first then use that OS to format my SSD?

Sadly I’ve tried this so many times and it just won’t work for me. Idk why. Got Dban, created a bootable drive with Rufus on my usb. PC just refused to boot from it. Tried with Yumi as well still didn’t work. Man it’s a nightmare
