Hi all,

(this is related to steam games and admin permission giving)

so my friend downloaded a game that is 4 years old, he told me that the game is not that famous and only with 20 reviews when he downloaded the game, it asked for a “redistributable script needed to play the game” in other words, it needed the permission to do things related to Microsoft C++, he accepted, but later on he called me sweating about that him accepting such request may put his computer in danger and scared that a virus can be downloaded or scared that it may give permission for a “virus” to access his computer details and files, for some reason he refused to give me the name of the game, so i can bet its something a bit sketchy game in steam XD.

i did tell him that it is nearly impossible to anything happen, and it is only code-related stuff, but since i do not have the knowledge nor experience, i would like to help with such info so I can either scare him more or give him a good update about his computer.

“btw he deleted the game the moment he accepted the permission XD”

No. Not at all what redistributables do.

Tell him the microsoft C++ redistributable is a reputable, safe, and well-known application that allows certain programs to bundle it in their installers (redistribution) so they can use certain advanced features without the user having to download it manually.
