Bit of background: i have a pretty beefy self-built desktop PC mainly used for games. I also have some hobbies in my garage that benifit from CAD ussage / general web-browsing for research.

I dont like walking back and fourth from my garage to the other side of my house, and I really dont want to buy a dedicated machine when i have this nice PC in the other room.

Is there a simple way to have a few remote peripherals(monitor, keyboard, mouse) for a PC over LAN or similar? Been really racking my brain over this one.

Thanks!

An easy option would be to use Steam link, some smart TVs and android devices like the NVidia shield would allow you to stream your desktop to a different room. I’ve done this with a cheap steam link device wired to Ethernet.

Depending on distance, another option could be running a Optical USB-C cable from your PC to a USB C dock in the room you want to be able to access it from, Linus from LTT did something similar using Optical Thunderbolt but it’s far from being economical. (last I checked, the Optical Thunderbolt 4 cables are in the 400+$ range, then you’d still need a compatible dock like the caldigit TS4).
