I set my mom up with a new desktop and dual monitors (Dell SE2723DS). The monitors are 4k and have 2 hdmi and 1 display port. The desktop has 1 hdmi and 1 display port. I learned that hdmi will not transmit in 4k, although the display port does. The monitors do not appear to have the ability to be daisy chained.

What options do I have to make both monitors display in 4k? Dell said my only option is a docking station but I would rather not spend another 200 dollars. It seems that there are some splitters on Amazon for around 50, or is there a display port cord that has 1 into the desktop and splits to 2?

Do they not display in 4k because Dell’s monitors are incapable? They make 4k HDMI cables. Its just that not all HDMI cables are 4k compatible, and not all graphics cards output at HDMI 2.1, which is 4k compatible.
Do yourself a favor and don’t use a splitter. One source, one monitor.
