So, I recently bought a pc on OLX (an app that you can sell and buy stuff) the man that sold to me appears to be a really nice person and I got a really good price for my hardware. It’s about 2 months since I bought it and it came reseted with windows installed. I notice that there were some apps on it and when I questioned the man he said it was just apps to check the performance of the computer, but sometimes when I alt-tab I see two random softwares open that I don’t recognize: Home Cloud and another that the name is really weird, Form1 Should I be worried or am I just paranoid? EXTRA: every time I try to click on it nothing happens and also I can’t find them on the list to uninstall

Head to settings, perform a system reset, choose “delete everything” when prompted, and opt to download the new Windows from the cloud.

    I am confused.

Just reinstall the windows immediately. If it is Windows 10, then license key is actually tied to the hardware and you don’t need license key. If it is Windows 7 or 8 or something like that, you might need key to activate. Still you can use it for a trial period.

Don’t gamble your data for Windows. Original keys are available at lower price in many retailers site.

I think when you download windows iso, they give you a key you have to use to activate it in 24 hrs, free

“Form1” is the default window name when you make an application using the Windows Forms toolkit.

Either this person created their own application or they used a homemade application written by someone else and run it on the PC. This sort of thing doesn’t need to be installed. It might be set up to autorun as a service or a scheduled task and run in the background.

It might be a harmless custom tool they used to set stuff up and forgot to remove, or it might be something unpleasant.

In the real world, a workman leaving a tool behind isn’t a safety risk in quite the same way as it is in the software world. I would recommend following other comment’s advice and wiping the PC and reinstalling windows.

If they are a 1-man operation, it is much more likely they would be tempted to try something suspicious than if they are part of a team with supervision, oversight, and accountability. A place where the consequences for being discovered would be much more severe.

home cloud seems to be photos and video storage

What is Form1 on my PC?

Form1 is the default name of the main window for a windows desktop program. Most of the time you would rename it, but hey… Anyway, you should be able to identify the file with Process Explorer, running as admin. it has a cross-hair icon you can click and drag onto a window to jump to its processes.21 Jul 2020

Learn to use search engines first, even in task manager there is the option to find out about a program running that you do not recognise.

no need to format the pc, you would probably not know how to find the licence unless it was on a sticker on the pc
