Hi! My boyfriend is looking to start using Cubase (he’s been in bands for years), and I have no clue about it. If he were to get a keyboard, how does it work with cubase - as in what do I need to check in terms of keyboard requirements (does it just simply need a USB connection?)

Thank you!

As the other commenter said, any USB midi controller/keyboard will do the trick. I personally recommend something by Arturia. The keylab essential mk3 is a great deal! Amazing features for a great price.

Yeah a decent midi keyboard should do the trick. I’d recommend a 49 key if space allows. 37 seems too small and 61 is too big for many setups. Keep in mind it won’t have any built in sounds but there are plenty of synths he can use inside Cubase.

Just make sure it has a mod and velocity wheel… my first one didn’t and it really wasn’t long before I ended up having to upgrade it

But yeah… “USB midi keyboard” is what you are looking for 😉
