well you said it yourself you write to it a lot thats why its going down so quick, i advice you switch to a 1tb-2tb ssd if you are worried about lifespan

i remember reading that a 250gb ssd can reach 10 years lifepsan if you only write less than a certain amount to it

you could also buy a HDD for your work but run everything on a ssd

Should you be worried about your SSD health, as in should you keep backups on other storage devices and other storage locations of your important data? Yes, absolutely. Your SSD will fail one time in the future, and when it happens, you will need to get your backups.

Also, if you have reinstalled Windows ten times already within 7 months, you should also be worried about your computer usage habits. That is not normal.

It’s a guess based on factors

A ssd has a lifespan equal to X amounts of time each bit can be stored and flipped

This means a 256gb ssd with a equal quality of storage chips would have a 4x shorter lifespan than a 1TB as the 1TB has physically more storage to wear down over time

Op, everyone knows you need 31 reinstalls.

Btw each SSD is different. Some have higher TBW, some less.

You made roughly 1% per month, that’s still a total of 100 month / 8.3 year.

But like other, I recommend going to 1Tb or 2Tb if you use a lot for video editing. And you don’t feel restrain by 256Gb ? How much space left do you have ?

Don’t forget backup if you care about your data !

Life is too short to worry about SSD health, just do backups (I always recommend Backblaze) and don’t worry about your SSD.

I have written 1.08PB to my oldest SSD and it’s still going great.
