Hello All.
I just took my old gaming PC and repurposed it into a server for homelab use. I have bought a Windows 10 Pro key, and went to turn on BitLocker only to realize I don’t have a TPM Module.
My mobo has a TPM header (GIGABYTE GA-B150M-DS3H rev 1.0) , but finding one from a trusted brand is proving difficult. I see them on Amazon for like $15, but I have no idea if they are reputable or reliable. The only one I have found that I even recognize or trust would be a Supermicro module for $40 on Newegg.
Has anyone had to buy one of these, and am I worrying too much about it? I just feel like a chip that I’m trusting my BitLocker key to should be “trustworthy.”
TPM modules aren’t standardised, you’d need the 19 pin Gigabyte one or a clone of it, the Supermicro things wouldn’t be compatible, https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GC-TPM20
Alternatively, you can set up Bitlocker using a regular flash drive as the storage instead.
