I was wondering if I should get the Cubase 13 and which version should I get

I also considering FL Studio too

Which DAW should I consider for better for producing Orchestra and creating OST.

FL has a very clean and readable interface, slim and powerful mixer (more powerful than Cubase’s and also more modular), very powerful automation capabilities (you can link any automation data to any parameter, modulate and limit it however you want, unlike Cubase) and in general workflow in FL is faster if you don’t have a midi keyboard and midi controllers (or remapped keystrokes). BRSO Articulate also allows to work extremely fast. FL’s loading time is 0.5 seconds, Cubase’s is 20s.

However, FL has some serious flaws:

    • Only 125 mixer tracks (normal orchestral template requires at least 200-300, plus audio, plus synths)
    • Bad cpu performance
    • Barely functional video player (can’t even sync it with audio)
    • Lack of some MIDI editing tools (attaching automation graphs, editing multiple tracks at once, ramps, etc.)
    • No Tempo track (only clumsy tempo automation)
    • No track freezing
    • No track disabling

    This is where Cubase shines.

On top of that, Cubase has a ton of hotkeys; there are macros, logical operators and other things to make your life easier.

Expression maps are almost as convenient as BRSO Articulate, and even more powerful. (only in Cubase Pro)

So, if you want a large template or want to work with video, you kind of don’t have a choice. Otherwise, choose what is more convenient for you.
