So I recently got a new laptop and when I bought it it said that the SSD is 1TB. Now I open my file explorer and the disk space is only 199? What I’m more confused about is that Task Manager says that the capacity of my SSD is 954 and right under it says “Formatted : 201”.I know it may seem like a stupid question but am I not understanding something or did I get scammed?
Would appreciate a simple explanation!
there is an overhead for SSDs so its not exact
yeah, but not a 4:1 ratio. overhead is usually a small bit on top. a 1000 GiB SSD may actually be 1100 GiB internally, but the controller would not show that.
