So here’s the specifics. I live in the Philippines, and for a student just boarding in this city, i live in this boarding house with no internet so I decided to connect to a neighbor’s internet by paying them 400 pesos per month. Additionally, i load my sim for 99 pesos per month as well (it’s a promo) that gives 7gb of internet that i only use when I’m away from the house like if I’m at school or something. So basically that’s 499 pesos that i spend per month for internet and cellular data.

Additionally, my sim also offers a 499 pesos promo that can last for 30 days. It includes 55gb of internet, unli call and texts.

I use three devices. A laptop, a tablet and a phone. I rarely use all three at once since i mostly use my phone for browsing and everything else, the tablet for small online games, and the laptop for writing papers since my major in college requires a lot of papers. It’s not online classes too so i only use it a lot when I’m at home in the evening or something. Is 55gb enough for me? I’m considering this because lately the neighbors wifi is gone and I don’t want to impose on them too much by constantly asking if it’s back.

additional info, I’ll be using tethering when using the tablet and laptop since the data connection will come from my phone

And even though I’m not home most of the time, i sleep late and kind of just online for majority of my free time if I’m procrastinating (which happens often) so i use a lot of internet (?) I’m not how alot since i mostly just browse tiktok, reddit, or google chrome when I’m reading manga

Very hard to tell without exactly knowing your habits and usage of stuff. You can check your internet usage in windows or on your phone to get a rough idea of which apps use how much. If you are careful and stop yourself from doing some things you can manage, but it might be pretty tight, it’s only ~2gb per day.

You will need to monitor how much you are using because it’s very easy to do something that unexpectedly uses lots of data. Setting a daily data limit on your phone is a good idea. For example, set a daily 2gb limit (or slightly less, to be safe), it will notify you when you are approaching your limit so you can adjust your usage for the rest of that day, so you don’t run out before the end of the month.

It will significantly limit what you can do, downloading games or programs will deplete your data real quick. Things like major windows updates can be like 5 gb, that’s 10% of your montly limit already for example.

Disable automatic updates for as many things as you can, especially things like PC games, windows updates, etc. If you sometimes have access to an another free/unlimited source of internet try to do them only when connected there.

Outside of downloading apps and games, the biggest usage will most likely come from watching videos and looking through social media sites with thousands of images/videos that you are constantly downloading as you scroll, so you might need to use them less, watch videos in a worse quality etc.
