I recently bought an MSI Raider GE68 HX 13V laptop–intel i9 13950HX, 24 cores, 32 processors; Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060. For the first couple of weeks that I had the laptop, it was running a demanding game well, but with a laptop cooling stand, when running the game the CPU was running 75-80 degrees C and the GPU was running 65-70, with the fans moderately noisy. Definitely tolerable, but the other day I tried playing the game without plugging the laptop in to charge. The CPU and GPU were running a good 20 degrees cooler, the fan was much quieter, and the game seemed to be running just as well.
Just wondering what’s going on here. Is my laptop running a setting when plugged in that gets the CPU and GPU to run harder than necessary? Wondering if there’s something I can do to get that same performance while the computer is plugged in. TIA!
