I have a Lenovo Ideapad S340-15iil and am looking for a way to make it run games better (it’s my fathers old laptop). I am thinking of adding an SSD but I don’t know what is compatible with it and what I will need. I have done what I can within the laptop, turning on game mode and performance mode, deleting unnecessary apps etc.
More than a SSD, if you want to improve in-game performance, look at upgrading the RAM. From a very quick search, I see that S340s have only 8GB of ram, but it seems replaceable (according to iFixit - not the exact same model, but it should the same chassis and motherboard format).
So I would buy a bigger RAM module (16GB) to replace the installed 8GB one. Look for a DDR4-2666 or higher (that’s what seems to be compatible with your laptop).
And lucky for you, Lenovo is quite open with their maintenance procedure, so here’s the full maintenance manual: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles\_pub/s340\_14\_15\_iil\_iml\_hmm.pdf
Sorry I am not very good with computers, would this one be compatible with my laptop?
