So my mom accidentally opened sussy PDF from spam mail on her phone.My mum didnt pressed download button instead just tapped on the middle of file icon to open. I dont see this pdf in built in file manage so I don’t know maybe it was opened online, but before opening phone asked which program to open file in. PDF contains some text and phishing link in it.So how big chancee are that there is now malware in my mothers phone and what should I do next

    The point of these is to get people to call or connect to the fake websites so they can be scammed. It’s not to install malware.

    And yes the PDF was downloaded. That’s how email attachments work - they don’t magically appear.

    You might want to visit /r/scams for more explanations about the scam which I assume is either Norton or McAfee or Best Buy Genius Squad.

    And you Mom didnt “accidentally” open the attachment. She mistakenly opened it because she was careless.
